This is a picture as we drove away. You can see that they were not even concerned about us. This was the best ending, but it actually got even better. I got a phone call last night from Candy. She said that she wanted me to know that the turkeys got comfortable and they are already roosting in the oak tree with all of the others. Then she said, "You'll never believe who is with them!" The duck was roosting in the oak tree WITH the turkeys. She promised to take a picture. Every night the turkeys roost and the duck stays on the ground. I could not believe that the duck flew up to join them, but it made my night. We definitely made the right decision and there was a reason that we did not leave the duck at the first place.

Turkey Release
On our way to the turkey farm. These guys did surprisingly well for their first big car ride and uncaged!
It is hard to see, but this is one of the Tom's that are already on the property. This is the oak tree that the turkeys roost in when it gets dark.
So, we brought the duck along for the ride to say farewell. It turns out the turkey farm is on a lake.
The duck got out first and just seemed so happy! They all went over and made friends with the other turkeys. The lady (Candy is her name) kept telling me that the duck would make friends with the other ducks in the lake. I told her that it did not matter one bit to me about other ducks because SHE (Candy immediately filled me in that the duck was not a HE as we have called it the whole time) is fine with her turkey friends.

Oh how wonderful!! I always thought that your duck thought she was a turkey!! That is truly the best solution for your feathered friends!! How terrific (and guilt free!!) it is to know that they are all together & having a good time. Congrats!!
