Bye bye Nottingham!
It is officially over. No more Nottingham, no more Cambridge homes. We got the official confirmation from Maggie this morning. She called to check that we did not want to make another offer. Josh made it clear to her that we already made our offer. She also informed us that the only part of the offer that the "bean counter" was willing to accept was the price we offered on the lot premium. As far as incentives and upgrades they will only do $20,000. Well, we need about 60. We are hoping this is a blessing in disguise. Something will come along that is better. Truthfully, there is nothing more that I would want in a house than our Nottingham...However, as far as addresses go...Being a school teacher in Seminole County I would prefer that our home has a Seminole County address. My kids will definitely go to the Elementary school that I teach at, but to transition to a middle school that is not even in the same county would be rough. Besides, Seminole County schools are MUCH better than Orange County as whole. Don't get me wrong there are amazing schools in Orange County such as the Domerich area, but these schools are few and far between. So, I am really okay with this! We will do better somewhere else and will be glad that things worked out the way they did with Cambridge. My mother and grandmother's only objection to this house was its location. If we are going to move they want us to move closer to them and not farther away. I would love to live in my mom's neighborhood, but there is only one floor plan that I like...How crazy is this? The house directly across the street (which is the floorplan I love) may be up for sale. The Clater's were discussing with my mom that they are doing some remodeling to sell the house. So of course, I jumped at the news and made my mom go back out and ask if they would sell it in June for a reasonable price to us. They are considering and said they will get back to us. There would be many advantages for this. One is that the Elementary school for the house is Red Bug. There is a strong possibility I may work at this school within the next couple of years. Also, when we have kids how nice will it be for them to go to Grandma's house which is only across the street. When I go to work it would only be across the street that we have to drop the kids. No driving across town or worries about any of that. Like I said before, something good will come out of this! However this has been quite an adventure! This morning I was overwhelmed with disappointment. Now, I am breathing a sigh of relief. I can't wait for the next step...For now I am relaxing.
